St. Pete Beach has the most number of hotel/motel rooms of any community along the Suncoast. Located on Long Key, St. Pete Beach is connected to the mainland by Corey Causeway (free) and the Pinellas Bayway (toll). It connects to Treasure Island via the Blind Pass bridge. St. Pete Beach offers a complete assortment of water sports: waverunners, scuba diving, fishing, parasailing etc. etc. Land-based acitivities include everything from a visit to the historic Fort De Soto Park, shelling trips to Shell Key, or a visit to Florida Orange Groves and Winery in South Pasadena. This winery is just one of just a handful of wineries in Florida. They have completely natural wines that are both unusual and delicious, and FREE wine-tasting. The 57 passenger Shell Key Shuttle catamaran takes you to lovely Shell Key for a shelling expedition along one of our secluded beaches. They don't have a website, but you can phone them at (727) 360-1348. The Historic Pass-A-Grille area and the nearby Fort De Soto Park (Historic Place, Beach Park) offer family fun and natural beauty all in one location. For day or night time fun, visit the popular St. Petersburg Pier (downtown St.Petersburg, approx. 12 miles away) which boasts more than a dozen shops, many restaurants, and a small aquarium all inside of this 5-story inverted pyramid. During the winter season, catch many major league spring training games throughout Pinellas County. Also, from April through the summer visit Tropicana Field, home to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
